Airport Employees Raise more than $12,500 for United Way

During the 2008 United Way campaign, employees of the Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority raised an outstanding total of $12,717 – a 113% increase over the previous campaign year. Ninety three Airport Authority employees participated in the 2008 campaign, which accounts for 85% of the workforce, and reflects a 54% increase in participation over the previous year.

According to Rick Tucker, Executive Director, Huntsville-Madison County Airport Authority, "The overwhelming generosity of the our employees – combined with the contributions of others who invest in North Alabama through United Way – is helping to make our community a better place for our families and for the future of our children. Given the current state of the economy, I am humbled at the level of participation and total contributions of the Airport Authority staff. The Airport Authority has established a long-standing relationship with United Way."

The United Way has served Madison County for more than 50 years and raised more than $77 million for the community. The mission of the United Way of Madison County is to be a leader in the community, uniting volunteers and resources to solve community problems and address health and human service needs through the programs of its partner agencies.
